Thank you Amsterdam

Three days just flew by and I loved every minute of them. What a great, vibrant and cultural city, with something going on around every corner or canal). Once you've successfully negotiated crossing the street with bicycles, trams and the occasional car coming past, you can fully appreciate all that this city has to offer. Van Gogh museum is a must see for everyone, although sad at times to think of this genius as a hugely troubled soul whose brother, Theo, was the only person who seemed to understand his talent, a penny-less millionaire who sadly put himself out of his own misery.

Despite this sad story his talent, to state the obvious, is widely appreciated and
you are immediately brought back to how content the Dutch are once you sit down and enjoy
a cheeky little Dutch cheese sandwich and a glass of appelsap from the Hansel & Gretel cafe. (Regretfully not made of chocolate covered biscuit walls).

Take a whole day and a comfy pair of kicks to see the Rijksmuseum informing you all about Dutch art and history from Rembrandt paintings to YSL dresses. Once you've burnt all your chips with mayo calories walking around all four floors you can unwind and chill in the evening downtown and visit a coffeeshop or two, but if that's not your thing plenty of charming little cafes and pubs with outside seating so you can enjoy your chilled glass of Heineken and watch the happy-go-lucky Dutch way of life cycle you by.

So, "dank u Amsterdam" for your culture, your liberal, peaceful and happy glimpse into your city.
